8 – 8:45 am Placerita Canyon Hike: Sandra Cattell, Sierra Club, will lead the PLAN/NPCA attendees on a short hike in the Placerita Canyon where California’s first nugget of gold was discovered!
This park is a historic landmark, with seasonal streams, riparian oak trees, unique metamorphic rock, on the Placerita fault, and next to the San Gabriel Fault, and a significant wildlife habitat connection: Desert -> San Gabriel Mountains -> Santa Susana Mountains. This is an opportunity to see this region of the Rim of the Valley (ROV).
NOTE: Wear hiking boots/tennis shoes, sunscreen, comfortable hiking attire.
We'll meet at the Nature Center Meeting Room before and after the walk.
